If you buy food seasonally, it will not only taste better, but generally be cheaper as well. The Kitchn has rounded up what you should be buying at your grocery store now!
In the produce department, summer is the best time to eat just about anything. However, apricots, peaches, cherries and berries are at their absolute peak right now and are cheaper than you'll find them at any other time. $1.86 a pound for cherries? Yes please! Broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, greens, green beans, lettuce, onions, peas, radishes, squash and zucchini are vegetables that are all at their best in the summer.
Dairy products are another thing that's great to buy right now. When it's dry outside and there's tall grass, it provides the goats, sheep and cows that make our milk and cheese with a treat to eat. The clover and dandelions they ingest will give our cheese and milk a subtly different taste.
Finally seafood is great in the summer, but the best catch varies depending on where you are. So find out what's in season in your neck of the woods and dig in!
